According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Sunday, the Memphis Grizzlies plan to use the injury exception to acquire Charles Brazil from the free agent market. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the two sides are expected to sign a short-term 10-day contract.
The Grizzlies have been plagued by injuries lately, with several key players, including Ty Jerome, Zach Eddy, Scottie Pippen Jr., and Brandon Clarke, all sidelined due to injuries. This situation not only paves the way for the Grizzlies to apply for an "injury exception," but also allows them to address the team's lack of depth inside.
Charles Brazile, 24, plays center and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 53rd pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft. He has played in 113 regular-season games for the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs, averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.9 blocks in 11.1 minutes per game, shooting 63.1% from the field and 23.1% from three-point range.
Charles Brazil also played in three playoff games for the 76ers, averaging 0.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 4.0 minutes per game.
